A wine cooler with multi-zone means that you have several temperature zones to choose from. In practical terms, you set one temperature at the top of the wine cooler (the warmest) and another temperature at the bottom of the wine cooler (the coldest). These temperatures will then meet in the middle of the wine cooler, where you will have an average temperature of the two selected temperatures.

It makes sense to have a wine cooler with multi-zone if you have many different wines that need to be enjoyed at different temperatures. For example, light white wines such as Vinho Verde, which should be enjoyed at around 5–7 degrees, while more fatty and barrel-aged Chardonnays may reach 10–12 degrees.
